New Year Message from the Pastor
For years I have moved in the prophetic gifting of a Seer (see 2 Samuel 24v11 & 1 Chronicles 29v29) and God often reveals things to me in this way. Quite frequently the presence of God will fall upon me whilst there is music playing (see 2 Kings 3v15), and it is from one of these times that I write the following:
Whilst in the church recently, listening to some contemplative music, the presence of God fell upon me and spoke these words to me, which I believe to be prophetic words over our church at this time, at least for the coming year, if not longer:
“Dwell amidst the soaking presence of God.
Still yourself. Abide with me.”
The ‘soaking presence’ is a particular kind. It is the Hebrew word ‘nataf’ which means “to be in a place as the mist falls around you, and to remain in it as it slowly saturates you until you are drenched in it.”
I also believe that Psalm 46v10 is relevant to us at this time. This verse tells us to ‘be still’. Other translations of this word (râpâ) are ‘cease striving’; or ‘stop struggling’; or simply ‘hey…..relax!’
I believe God wants us, as a church, to simply dwell with him, to become soaked in him, and to stop struggling. Allow the flow of the Spirit to take us along where ever he wants us to go. Relax, it’s ok – the LORD is God.
And so I finish with the final words of Psalm 33, our prayer as a church and as its individuals.
May 2010 be a year full of amazing adventure for us as we walk together along the path which God places before us.
We wait in hope for the LORD;
he is our help and our shield.
In him our hearts rejoice,
for we trust in his holy name.
May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD,
even as we put our hope in you.
